The Man From Tripoli review ☆ eBook or Kindle ePUB Trust me Lisa It will be all rightLisa could have laughed How could she trust Bryn when he had taken advantage of her from the startThey had met outside the church where t Normally I d roll my eyes at the protagonists being so stupid stubborn and lacking in trust and communication skills as to let one Great Big Terrible Misunderstanding after another ruin the remnants of their dysfunctional toxic relationship But in the context of the story Kay Thorpe wrote it made sense because this was a marriage of convenience between two strangers each from such a different social educational and financial class that they would have been an ill fit even had they been in love when they marriedI think the author did a great job of writing the young neurotic obsessively jealous and emotional yo yo heroine in a very realistic manner That didn t particularly make her likable but I understood why she reacted the stupid and immature way she did to many situationsThe hero was likable in some ways if you can disregard his Old Skool complete lack of pcness and accept his own version of morality and integrity It is rare in a KT book but I actually completely bought that the hero here despite his many flaws was NOT a cheater and took his marriage vows seriously once he made that commitment Which made the heroine s ugly tantrums to even an imaginary score with him over perceived infidelities all the frustrating But hey that s what you get I guess when you rush headlong into marriage with a complete stranger partly because she has such a hot bod and you would do anything to get your hands on it lolThough I felt the relationship between the h and H had an adeuate resolution by the end of the book I still didn t like that the odious OW never got her comeuppance and in fact was waiting for the couple to return to their hometown after a brief goosechase abroad like a proverbial spider patiently stretching her tentacles in the middle of her deathly web And poor besotted OM didn t deserve what happened to him It just wasn t fair
